The much awaited “special event” from Apple that everyone looked forward to with baited breath, was held on the 11th of September, 2012. This event was marked for Apple's announcement on the special launch of the iPhone 5 and also other products like the iPad mini and the new iPod. The iPhone 5 was much anticipated as the world had been waiting for news on its the pending launch. The iPhone 5 is a mobile that’s expected to set new parameters to the entire domain of cellular phones.

All concerns that had been expressed till date about this new iPhone 5 were put to rest. Many were actually concerned about small dock connectors, need for adapters, and even the name “iPhone5” being inappropriate. However, this event gave us the first glimpse of what the iPhone5 is actually all about.
The event was started off by Tim Cook of Apple by declaring that the best purchasing experience is offered by Apple with 380 stores across 12 nations. The expected release of the iPhone 5 is slated for the end of September, 2012. Nevertheless, they’re available on pre-order from the 14th of September, 2012.
The most awaited fact was, of course, the new features of iPhone 5. Apple’s top marketing executive, Phil Schiller was the person who told the world about what’s so new in the iPhone 5. He began by calling it the phone that's expected to “change phones forever”. This 2012 Apple has sought to set a new bar with this iPhone, similar to what they had done with all previous iPhones.
The iPhone 5 has a metal two-toned back and is a bit taller than the previous iPhone. According to Schiller, it’s an “absolute jewel” and viewers are of the opinion that it looks “exactly like the leaks”. This iPhone 5 is completely made out of aluminum and glass and has its buttons in the very same places. This one is the thinnest of all the Apple iPhones with a thickness of just 7.6mm. This makes it literally 18 percent thinner than the iPhone 4.
The Retina display is the same as iPhone 4 with 326 pixels per inch. The new screen consists of a 4 inch display. In fact it displays 1136 x 640 pixels with an aspect ratio of 16:9. This is actually beneficial as it’ll provide greater visible email space above the virtual keyboard. This new iPhone also boasts of updated software that consists of more email and web pages on Safari. You can actually see more events with a new 5-week view in Calendar. However, the apps haven’t been scaled anew to fit the new screen.

Now there are touch sensors that have been built into the display itself, and this is 30 percent thinner and also less prone to glare. Moreover, this iPhone is said to have an “ultra fast” wireless. This phone has a 4G LTE with a single chip for the purpose of voice and data, one radio chip and a “dynamic antenna” that can actually switch connections between different networks.
There are numerous other features too. However, the mobile iPhone 5 has been priced at $199. It’s the same as iPhone 4S for 16 GB. The 32 GB and 64 GB cost $299 and $399 respectively.
