Your computer is a machine that requires regular maintenance in order to keep it working as it should be. In order to keep your PC at optimum performance, you need to watch out for various computer problems and fix them as soon as possible.

The following are some of the common problems that affect the performance of your computer and tips on how to solve them:

Tip Number 1: How to deal with computer viruses

Computer viruses not only affect the functioning of your computer, but also affect all stored files and infect the computers of your friends. Viruses and malware can also lead to serious financial losses, as these are the strongest weapons that cyber criminals use to transfer files from your computer to theirs, once you run these malicious software. Once your computer gets infected with these harmful programs, most programs stop working as they are supposed to. Viruses also corrupt genuine software and files stored in the computer. Your computer is also likely to slow down and constantly give you messages that there is not enough space to run regular operations. To deal with this problem and restore the functioning of your computer, install good antivirus software. Look for software that can detect malicious software inside the hard disk, portable disks, stored files, email attachments and link addresses on the internet.

Tip Number 2: How to deal with a slow CPU

When the CPU slows down, all other functions slow down. The CPU may slow down due to a number of factors. Other than viruses, the power mode of your CPU might affect its speed. Ensure that your CPU is not on slow power mode. This can be corrected from the BIOS settings. If you are working on a laptop, it is advisable to connect it to the main power supply other than using power from the battery and i am sure that it will increases performance.

Tip Number 3: How to deal with insufficient disk space

Insufficient disk space occurs when you utilize all the available disk space, or when your computer has a virus. This can affect the performance of your computer. To address this problem, carry out regular disk clean up processes. Your computer will ask you to do this whenever you run out of space, and so you are advised to click on this pop up window as soon as it shows up and follow through the wizard. However, you do not have to wait for this message to show up; go to Startup>Programs>Accessories>System tools> disk clean up and remove all unwanted files. You can also free up disk space by manually deleting files that are no longer in use or required. Videos occupy large space, and so you might want to begin by getting rid of unwanted movies and MP4 files. In case you have software that you no longer use, you can uninstall it from the control panel.

Tip Number 4: Regular maintenance measures

It is advisable for you to check the disk regularly for any irregularities on stored items. Right click on the C drive from My Computer, click on Properties>Tools>Check Disk. It is also good to clean your hardware so as to ensure that it is free of dust, as this can also lower the performance of your computer. Disk defragmentation can also boost the performance of your computer. It is advisable to run it after every two weeks. Go to Start up>Programs>Accessories>System tools> disk defragmenter. Finally, ensure that you have back up for all the data stored in your computer; you never know when it might crash.
